something about this weekend screamed good ol’ fashioned ice cream makin’ to me. ice cream weekend kicked off with cherry vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate chunks. i combined eggs, milk, heavy cream, and sugar, stirred that up in the ice cream maker, and when it was just thickening i added the choc and cherries. it was taaaaassty. but i think i’ll add more chocolate next time.
Next up was peach sorbet. The ripe luscious white and yellow peaches on my kitchen table inspired this choice. I peeled and chopped the peaches, then boiled apricot nectar with sugar to make a syrup. I chilled this syrup for 3 hours, and then I combined the chopped peaches with the syrup in the food processor to make a puree. This puree was added to the ice cream maker, and that was it. Quite simple, quite satisfying. Not as picturesque as the first (it kept melting, MELTING!!!), but I actually liked it even better.
This will have to suffice for my first ever blog post, because i’m too tired and hot to write anything. enjoy, suckers.
